Through the last few months I have enjoyed making a variety of fascinating memory bears. When they reached their new homes, or halfway houses in many cases, I received the most heartwarming responses. With their permission, I am sharing some of those comments with you.
If you are considering a memory bear, you'll want to read these and watch some of the examples rotate through the pictures below.
The majority of these were made from treasured garments; however when none are available we can choose an appropriate fabric, and make it an heirloom with the addition of actual photos of your special people.

Hi--I wanted to let you know just how much I love the bear you made for me to remember my dad by. It's a great representation of him. I love how you cut down the hood he received when he graduated with is doctorate degree and put it on the bear. I was about 7 or 8 years old when my dad completed his degree and remember attending the graduation ceremony where he was "hooded". I have the bear on the dresser in my bedroom sitting next to the beanie he wore freshman year at Willamette University. I love the tag on the ear with photos of my dad. Thank you for your creativity--my dad's bear will always be special to me.

Prior to October 1932 my parents purchased a blue checkered baby blanket. My mother brought me home in that blanket. After some time, she took the well worn blanket, washed it one last time, folded it and put it away. Years later she gave it to me as a keepsake. As years passed I began to wonder what to do with it. Anyone not knowing the history of the blanket would probably toss it as useless. When my wife and myself discovered Bellybutton Bears, a solution came to me. No one ever throws a bear away! An agreement was struck and soon the blue checkered blanket became not just one but two Bellybutton Bears with Myrtle wood buttons. Scraps became bear shaped Christmas tree ornaments. Both the bears and the ornaments are now treasured keepsakes and where ever they go from here, I am sure they will be treasured there as well.

Denise, I want you to know that not only did God bless this world with you,
but you bless so many families with your talent that creates such beautiful
memory reminders of the people that we love and lost. You help us keep them
close to our hearts and souls. There are truly no words to describe and
happiness that your belly buttonbear brought to my mother in law and me.
Our "Love You Ma Bear" was truly one of the most beautiful things I have
ever seen. God bless you and your talent forever and ever. Sandra

Thank you so much for my Big Ed Bears. When my father died before Christmas I thought this year would be a very sad Christmas for us. I could not think of a better Christmas gift for our family than these bears made from Dad's clothes. I ordered four and love them so much.
Not only was the workmanship made with love, but each bear had my Dad's photo on the vest, His name "Big Ed" and a wonderful Tag that told us about the Big Ed Bear and a saying from his obituary card I had special made for him. That was all added touches that I did not expect and it made me cry. They are awesome! Words can not express how your bears took this sad Christmas and gave us the special gift of holding Dad again when we hug our bears. We are very proud to have the Big Ed Bear be a part of your beary special family.
I did not expect all the added touches and the quality of your work was just totally awesome. I can not wait to give them out. I love them. Love, Deb Keegan

They are WONDERFUL!!!!!!!!!!!! I can't tell you how much I love them. And the picture on the inside of the vest is wonderful. We are trying to have things that help these two little boys remember who Grandpa, Aunt Becca and Auntie Anna were.
You are providing a tool to help us in our healing and grieving. Jayne

You really did do a wonderful job in making the memory bears come to life. If only for a glimmering moment we felt the love and memory of those we love. Thank you from the bottom of my heart. Thank you...I will look forward to seeing Wool N Bear and Flora Jean on your website. Sylvia ~~~
That little bear has done a lot for me. Just to see "her" sitting there reminding me of the old times brings a smile.....Thanks........Barbara

Dear Denise, I just received my bears and as I opened the box the tears, of course, came. They both are wonderful and say (my husband) to me when I look at them. They are too cute and make me smile. Denise, you have been given an extraordinary talent and I thank you for using it to help comfort those who have lost their loved ones. These bears are so loved and I can tell by the great workmanship of each one that they were loved as they were being made. You can be assured that the two Bears will always be well loved. My husband was a terrific man and is so missed by all of his family. Besides being a loving husband, he was a father, a son, a brother, uncle to many nieces and nephews and a good friend to many people. Thank you very much for making these bellybutton bears. I may write back someday when another bear is needed to comfort one of my loved ones. Please continue to make these bears to love and comfort their owners. [DH]

We have received the bear and she is an absolute treasure. She is so beautiful; it was love at first sight. She currently sits on a wall shelf in my niece's room. I placed her high on the wall because our dog - Peter Henry had his eyes on her! Peter-Henry is a Jack Russell Terrier and an absolute nut! [Marlene in Florida]
